Akii-gikinoo'amaading MacBook Air User Agreement

 

Every student will be given a 13" MacBook Air for use during the school year. The following MacBook User Agreement must be signed by both the student and parent/guardian prior to receiving the MacBook Air. Please read through the User Agreement below, sign, and click submit. 

 

1. GENERAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. By signing this MacBook Air User Agreement, you are participating in the Akii-gikinoo’amaading MacBook Air loan program. The MacBook air you will be loaned to use for school purposes is the sole property of Akii-gikinoo’amaading and its use is governed by the school’s policies and this User Agreement. The school is lending you a MacBook Air for the purpose of doing schoolwork, whether it be at school or your home. This User Agreement sets the conditions for loaning a MacBook Air. I confirm that I have read the terms and conditions set out in the User Agreement and my signature at the end of this agreement confirms that I will adhere to the terms of loan.

 

2. DAMAGE/LOSS. By signing this User Agreement, I agree to take full responsibility for the loaned MacBook Air issued to the student and that I have reviewed this agreement and understand that I am legally obligated to follow the conditions of the agreement. I understand and agree that the student and I are responsible for the MacBook’s Air at all times, whether on the school’s property, at home, or in any other location where it may be found. If the MacBook Air is damaged, lost, or stolen, I will immediately inform Akii-gikinoo’amaading staff, and I acknowledge that I am responsible for the reasonable costs reasonably requested by the school to repair or replace the equipment. If the equipment is stolen, I will also immediately inform the police. I agree to keep the equipment in good conditions and to return it to the school upon request in the same condition it was received. I will not leave the equipment unsupervised in unsecured areas. I will make sure the student takes the following measures to protect the device.

 

• Keep the device in a secure place when not in use.

• Don’t leave the device in a car or on display at home.

• Don’t eat or drink around the device.

• Don’t lend the device to siblings or friends.

• Don’t leave the equipment unsupervised in unsecured areas.

 

3. UNACCEPTABLE USE. I am aware that the school monitors the student’s activity on this device. I agree that the laptop will not be used for any activity that constitutes “unacceptable use”, which includes, but is not limited to the following:

 

• Using the device to bully or harass someone else, or to promote unlawful discrimination.

• Any illegal conduct, or statements which are deemed to be advocating illegal activity.

• Activity which defames or disparages the school, or risks bringing the school into disrepute.

• Causing intentional damage to school facilities or materials.

• Using inappropriate or offensive language.

• Using the device to access and inappropriate materials.

 

I accept that the school with sanction the student, in line with school policy if the student engages in any of the above activities at any time or in any location.

 

4. PERSONAL USE. I agree that the student will only use the MacBook Air for educational purposes such as school use, classwork, remote learning and not for personal use. I agree that the device will not be loaned to any other person or be used by any other person.

 

5. DATA PROTECTION. I agree to take the following measures to keep the data on the MacBook Air protected:

• Keeping the device password-protected – strong passwords are at least 8 characters, with a combination of upper and lower-case letters, numbers, and special characters (e.g., asterisk or currency symbol).

• Making sure that the student locks the device if it’s left inactive for a period.

• Not sharing the device with any other person, including family or friends.

 

If I need help doing any of the above, I will contact Akii-gikinoo’amaading staff for assistance.

 

6. RETURN DATE. I will return the device in its original condition to Akii-gikinoo’amaading at the end of the school year. If I do not return the device with 5 school days of being requested to do so, I agree to be held liable for the cost of the device. I will ensure the return of the device to the school if the student no longer attends the school.

 

7. CONSENT. By signing this User Agreement, I confirm that I have read and agree to the terms and conditions set out above.

 

8. STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES. I agree to the following responsibilities:

 

1. The MacBook Air may only be used for academic purposes.

 

2. Make sure that my device is charged and ready for use each day, as the device may not be able to be charged at school.

 

3. Protect the device by carrying it in a bag and not leaving the device anywhere it may be damaged, including, but not limited to, near food or beverages, anywhere it may be stepped on, sat on, or stolen.

 

4. No personalization will be allowed – no stickers, markers, or writing of any kind on the bag or the MacBook Air protective case.

 

5. Follow all applicable school policies, the student handbook, and all local, state, and federal laws while using the device.

 

6. Students are NOT to attempt to repair their own MacBook Air. Students are also not to take their MacBook Air to a third party to be fixed.

 

7. If the device needs to be repaired: I understand that a loaner laptop may be issued to me while my assigned device is in for repair with the technology department. I understand that the school will notify me when the device is repaired and ready to be picked up. I agree to return the loaner device within 5 school days of the completed repair.

 

8. Backgrounds & Themes: Inappropriate media may not be used as MacBook Air backgrounds or themes. The presence of such media will result in disciplinary action.

 

9. During in-person classes, sound must be muted at all times unless permission is obtained from a teacher. For distance learning student must mute their microphones if asked to do so by a teacher. Headphones may be used at the discretion of the teacher. Students are required to provide their own set of headphones.

 

10. Students may NEVER share their MacBook charger with another student.

 

11. When using the MacBook outside of school, the MacBook will still be filtered as it is School property. A Wi-Fi connection is needed for m most work. However, there is a way to use Google docs, sheets, and slides in an offline more if needed. Students are bound by the school’s Computer Use Policy, this User Agreement and all applicable laws while using the device.

 

12. Students may not install any other operating system on their MacBook. The MacBook operating system updates itself automatically. There is no need for additional virus protection.

 

13. MacBooks are not to be used to take pictures or videos without the consent of all persons being photographed. Taking photos or videos during school and/or remote learning should only be done for instructional purposes as directed by the teacher. No pictures or videos of students

or staff are to be posted online, which includes social media platforms.

 

14. Use of the MacBook provided to you by the school is a privilege, not a right. The device is provided for educational purposes only. Unauthorized and inappropriate use may result in a cancellation and/or loss of this privilege.

 

 

9. COSTS FOR NOT RETURNING. If the device is not turned in at the end of the school year, students and their parents/guardians will be responsible for paying replacement fees, as reasonably established by the school. The fees shall not be less than the following amounts: MacBook Air: $500 – Charger: $15.00 – Case: $20.00. All fees will be due upon the end of the current school year.

 

I have read and agree to abide by the terms in the school’s Computer Use Policy and the terms of this User Agreement.
